A bank just down the street from the FBI was robbed this morning.

It looks like a long-running federal investigation into D.C. Council Chair Kwame Brown is bearing fruit—according to the Post, he’s expected to be indicted as early as today for fraud.

While the great majority of the District’s money is kept outside of local banks, that could eventually change.

At approximately 11:45 this morning, D.C. police officers responded to the scene of a bank robbery inside the City First Bank, located at 1432 U Street NW.

UPDATE: According to police, the attempted robbery occurred around 11:20 a.m., and no one inside the bank was injured. Both MPD and the FBI responded to the scene and are currently conducting an investigation.

A crazy scene in Takoma Park this morning: WUSA9 reports that police surrounded a Capital One Bank at 1181 University Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. this morning, eventually shooting a man who was holding a hostage outside of the building.
