A day after a shooting at the D.C. offices of the Family Research Council, Mayor Vince Gray defended the city’s restrictive gun laws.
Mayor Vince Gray appeared for the full hour of today’s edition of NewsTalk on NewsChannel 8 for his first lengthy interview since a 2010 “shadow” campaign on his behalf was made public. It was good television.

Background Checks, Now With Less Background
In March, Mayor Vince Gray ordered background checks for all of his appointees, a consequence of the hiring-related scandals that dogged him during his first months in office. But the recent hiring hiccup with new Deputy Chief of Staff Andi Pringle seems to indicate that the background checks aren’t as thorough as expected.

Morning Roundup: Dirty Massage Parlor Edition
Sex-Slave Trafficking Ring Broken Up: We’d always heard rumors that certain massage parlors in the District offered, ummmm, “happy endings” and other such services. Apparently, the rumors were true. Federal officials yesterday arrested 31 people along the east coast involved in a sex-slave trafficking ring that forced Korean women to work as prostitutes in massage parlors and spas, some of which were located in the District.
