Kim Jong-Un studies battle plans. (Rodong Sinmun)
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un continues to to amp up the drama and threaten South Korea and the United States with renewed hostilities. Last week, North Korean state media released photos of Kim and some military advisers reviewing battle plans that purportedly target D.C., Los Angeles, Hawaii, and Austin, Texas for nuclear strikes.
Mayor Vince Gray was on NewsChannel 8’s NewsTalk With Bruce DePuyt today and, amid an interview that touched largely on D.C.’s domestic politics, host Bruce DePuyt decided to go global and ask Gray about the trans-Pacific tension. DePuyt asked the mayor if he had been briefed by U.S. security officials about the possibility of a North Korean attack on Washington.
Gray said he has not attended any such meetings, nor has Paul Quander, his deputy mayor for public safety.
DePuyt then missed a critical follow-up question—whether the mayor has seen Olympus Has Fallen, the recently released film in which North Korean terrorists lay siege to downtown D.C. and stage a takeover of the White House. Surely, that fine piece of cinema contains all the the information we need to prepare for an attack.
