Weaver Set to Take Another Crack at Ward 1 Seat
Former Ward 1 D.C. Council contender Bryan Weaver wants another shot at replacing Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward 1).
Patrick Mara, a Republican who has run for citywide office multiple times before, is getting into the race for the special election next year for an At-Large D.C. Council seat.

Gray Proposes Campaign Finance Reform Measures, But Good Government Advocates Remain Wary
On a day when a D.C. Council committee heard testimony on a trio of bills that would tighten up the city’s campaign finance laws, D.C. Attorney General Irv Nathan rolled out Mayor Vince Gray’s long-awaited comprehensive reform of D.C.’s campaign finance rules.
The NoMa Business Improvement District’s slate of movies for the latest edition of its annual summer screening series has a very clear message: “Panic! Mayhem! It’s the end of days!”
Organizers of a citizen-led initiative that would ban corporate contributions to D.C. campaigns are hoping to gather up to 10,000 signatures today, moving them closer to the 23,000 they need by July to get the measure on the November ballot.

Weaver Wants Corporate Money Out of D.C. Campaigns
Former Ward 1 and At-Large D.C. Council candidate Bryan Weaver and Ward 7 ANC Commissioner Sylvia Brown are planning on filing paperwork this afternoon that would put a measure banning corporate contributions to electoral campaigns before District voters this November.
