What better way to celebrate Chuck Brown’s birthday than go-go music and giveaways for kids?

The “Wind Me Up, Chuck” installation, the artist says in a release, will serve as a park-within-a-park.

Two artists and a team were selected as finalists for the project by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the work of two of those finalists can be seen in a gallery.

The commission put out a request for proposals today, seeking an artist to create a “sculpture, statue, creative fence or wall, paving pattern” or other installation that “will serve as inspiration and a reminder of the cultural legacy of Go-Go that originated in this city to the residents of the neighborhood community and the broader Washington metropolitan area.”

Without a music space, the park will have toy drums and a memorial wall.
