The Uptown Theater is now a historic landmark. AMC Theatres ceased operations at the Cleveland Park movie theater in 2020.

The D.C. Preservation League has officially taken up the effort to secure landmark status for the historic theater.

This week, the DC Preservation League celebrated their 40th anniversary at the long abandoned Wonder Bread Factory (formerly the Dorsch’s White Cross Bakery), located a half-block east of 7th Street in Shaw.
