Yesterday, we featured some of the oddest candidate statements from the D.C. Voter Guide — but self-proclaimed “First Afro-Latino in History” Carlos Allen was nowhere to be found. Don’t worry though: the White House crasher-cum-mayoral candidate may have penned a mundane candidate statement, but he was just postponing the political awkwardness until today.
All politicians are a little crazy, right? After all, it takes someone with a bit of a maniacal edge to run for, and serve in, public office. In fact, could make the argument that as a politician, if somebody doesn’t hate you, well, you probably aren’t doing that great of a job. Of course, it’s a managed insanity. Seats of power obviously attract those with causes they firmly believe in, but are just plain kooky to the majority of the population. D.C., obviously, is no exception.

Gray Town Hall Tour Lands in Ward 1 Tonight
You, me, Vince Gray and lots of talk about budget shortfalls and education reform. Sounds good, huh? Gray’s citywide town hall tour enters its second half tonight in Ward 1, where he presumptive mayor-elect will broadly assess the state of the city and take questions on his plans for it. So far, Gray’s hit wards 5, 3, 7, and 2; 8, 4 and 6 are yet to come. Tonight’s event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School at 1100 Harvard Street NW.
