Tacos, those wonderful inventions of meat, vegetables, and spices served in folded-over tortillas, abound in D.C. and the surrounding environs.

Even though D.C. is filling up with pricey restaurants, there are still plenty of places to eat great for not a lot of cash.

Last night, District Taco on F Street NW played host to a contest of strength, endurance and bodily fortitude. WTOP reports that seven men attempted to wolf down as many tacos as they could in just 15 minutes.

District Taco has finally put down brick-and-mortar roots in Penn Quarter, with an outpost on 1309 F St. NW. The Virginia-based taco chain opened yesterday, with lines going out the door.
