Fenty Taps New Fire Chief

As mentioned in the Morning Roundup and widely reported in today’s Post and Examiner, Mayor Adrian Fenty announced today his selection of Dennis Rubin to take over the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department. Laboring on Labor Day

As we reported on Friday, the Moms on the Hill (or MoTHs, whose activities we are documenting at Ionarts) and their friends continue their efforts to get the money and donated items they have collected thus far to the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Got Water?

The Post is reporting that a watermain break near the intersection of 13th Street and Florida Avenue in Northwest has disrupted service for people “from Adams Morgan and Cleveland Park in the Northwest and Brookland in Northeast.” The break, which the AP, via WTOP, has described as “massive,” has buckled the street and “most of the dirt under the road’s surface has been washed away.” This photo was sent to us by DCist reader Garrison…
