Curbside Groceries parked its bright green food truck in Ward 8, where residents living east of the Anacostia River only have one grocery store.
Ward 7 and 8 residents living east of the Anacostia River now have even fewer grocery store options.

The nonprofit distributes groceries at 10 grab-and-go sites, Monday through Thursday.
The Produce Rx program allows medical professionals to prescribe fresh fruit and vegetables to patients experiencing diet-related chronic illnesses and living in poverty.
“The co-op will be a way for residents to really have a sustainable store in their neighborhood that they can control and doesn’t just up and leave.”

Ward 8 Is Finally Getting A Second Supermarket
The mayor attended a groundbreaking for Good Food Markets, which targets areas in D.C. deemed food deserts.
They were raising awareness on Saturday about food injustices in neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River.
