The officers say they were physically assaulted and injured by insurrectionists that former president Donald Trump “inflamed, encouraged, incited, directed, and aided and abetted.”

The lawsuit filed by Attorney General Karl Racine seeks significant damages for the costs incurred by D.C. when hundreds of police officers responded to the insurrection.

Officer Michael Angelo Riley directed the insurrectionist to remove videos and pictures from social media that showed him inside the building on Jan. 6, according to the indictment.

The officer is not being identified after threats made to his life.
