Mighty Sound Of Maryland Surfs To A Win
CBS recently hosted a contest to find the best college marching band rendition of the Hawaii Five-O theme song, and the University of Maryland’s Mighty Sound of Maryland marching band came out on top. Voters awarded the band a $25,000 prize over 17 other finalists.
Earlier today, students in the Ballou Senior High School’s marching band were treated to a surprise visit from Mayor Adrian Fenty, Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry, D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee and Macy’s Parade officials to announce that the band has been chosen to perform at the 2009 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
