Voices Of Wards 7 And 8: D.C.’s Mayoral Election
DCist/WAMU spoke to a number of residents of wards 7 & 8, including a couple of candidates, about what they’re thinking ahead of the mayoral election. A common thread: equality in allotment of resources throughout all of D.C.’s wards.
With a little more than two weeks left until the general election, a new poll finds that democratic nominee Muriel Bowser is currently leading independent nominee David Catania by 12 percentage points. The poll, which was commissioned by Economic Growth D.C., surveyed 800 likely voters between Thursday and Sunday, and found Bowser in the lead by 45 percent support, Catania in second with 33 percent, and independent candidate Carol Schwartz with 12 percent support….
Muriel Bowser won the Democratic primary election, but she faces a tough opponent in David Catania for the November general election.

Today, nominating petitions became available at the D.C. Board of Elections for the April 2014 primary. Things are heating up.
The candidates seeking to be the next mayor of the District of Columbia filed their first major fundraising reports yesterday, with Bowser getting off to an early lead with a $465,272 haul.
D.C.’s 2014 mayoral race jumped today from a three-way tango to a four-member field with the campaign announcement of Reta Jo Lewis, a former official in both the Clinton and Obama administrations.
