It’s unclear if the journalism museum will reopen after it vacates its flagship Pennsylvania Avenue building on Dec. 31.

Visitors have until December 31, 2019 to pay a visit.

“We want queer people who come to know this is their museum as well,” says Smithsonian curator Katherine Ott.

The university will purchase the Pennsylvania Avenue building for $372.5 million and turn it into a new home for its graduate programs in D.C.

It focuses on the story of the attack that killed five newsroom staff members in June.

This is an interesting choice on the part of a museum meant to “increase public understanding of the importance of a free press.”

Changes at the journalism museum have already begun with the departure of the president and CEO for the past two years.

“These two artifacts tell important stories about how journalists work, and the threats they face, even in the United States.”

The first Wawa in D.C. will open by the end of the year.
