The founder and executive director of Casa Ruby appears to have fled the country after withdrawing tens of thousands of dollars of the nonprofit’s funds, according to a statement from the D.C. Attorney General.

LightHouse DC has launched with a goal of filling in gaps in the continuum of care given to D.C.’s homeless and low-income residents.

The one-day virtual fundraiser runs until 11:59 tonight.

Giving Tuesday is a 24 hour campaign for online (and other forms of) charitable giving.

This morning, D.C. Attorney General Irv Nathan announced that an investigation into Team Thomas, a nonprofit operated by Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr., had uncovered enough evidence for the city to file a civil enforcement action against the councilmember. We’ve been hearing about ArtSpace in Shaw for some time, and on August 13 we stopped by during one of their open studios, which go on every Monday.
