Home-Invasion Robbery in Oxon Hill
The Post’s Matt Zapotosky is reporting that a woman was held at gunpoint in her home in Oxon Hill this morning during a home-invasion robbery perpetrated by three men. Morning Roundup: Rock Out With Your Caucus Out
Good morning, Washington. Supporters of Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Barack Obama are riding high off their caucus victories in Iowa last night, but locally, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty continues to suffer some bumps in the road after one year in office. Just weeks after the resignation of Attorney General Linda Singer, Fenty’s former deputy chief of staff, Neil Richardson, has also resigned. Richardson, who was a key Fenty aide during his mayoral campaign, had…

Five Arrested for Robbery, Assault on Metro
Metro has taken its share of heat this year for the way it’s handled crime on its trains and in stations, so it’s not surprising that the agency sent out a triumphant press release this morning announcing the arrests of five people in connection with a robbery and assault on Dec. 9 that may have been fueled by homophobia. According to the release, Metro Transit Police have arrested one adult and four juveniles for assaulting…

Morning Roundup: Spitting in the Wind Edition
Good morning, Washington. If you drive an SUV or another type of high profile vehicle, you’re asked to use…

Council and much of the rest of the Washington area, was actively debating the incentive package for the new Washington Nationals stadium. At the time I was well aware of the questions about costs and benefits and was familiar with research on the subject suggesting that new stadia did not boost metropolitan…

Morning Roundup: What’s That Smell Edition
Chances are, if you live in or near the city and are not fantastically wealthy, you probably have roommates. Maybe you live with friends, maybe with some folks you randomly found on craigslist and barely talk to, but sharing your living space with other people is a fact of life for most people under 30 in D.C. And in this kind of heat, any sort of odd personal odors emanating from your roommates’ bedrooms might…

Go Home Already: Missed Connections
>> “Thought you were cute and wanted to talk to you, but didn’t think it was appropriate in Council chambers…” [craigslist] >> “You – giant-headed former President riding coyly down Independence this morning in a silver Solara convertible. Me – almost crashing into a taxi while trying to take your picture.” [Pygmalion in a Blanket] >> “If dad goes for a walk with his daughter and holds her hand, apparently Virginia Department of Health officials…

Morning Roundup: Crime Back Up Edition
Good morning, Washington. We hope you had a safe weekend and were able to enjoy the cooler weather on Sunday thanks to the rain brought in by remnants of Tropical Storm Barry. The respite from the heat, which looks like it may last through Wednesday, is one of the few things we can find to be upbeat about as we go over today’s headlines. As you’ve already heard, Tonya Bell, a 30-year-old woman from Oxon…
