Morning Roundup: Educators Behaving Badly Edition

Maybe we just have a short memory, but yesterday was the first day of the summer that felt oppressively awful in that distinctly D.C.-ish way. Apparently we weren’t the only ones — NBC4 says that a bunch of kids from the National Student Leadership Council who were visiting Capitol Hill became sick from the heat, requiring treatment in a Senate office building (they’re all fine). Today promises to be two degrees hotter. Md. Teacher Sentenced…

Nats Open RFK, Again

Despite (or maybe because of) their stadium issues, the Washington Nationals and their new owners are reopening RFK Stadium this weekend, introducing new concession stands and a food court and cleaning the place up a bit. There will also be fan festivals before the games and decent pre-game concerts, with U.S. Army bands playing on Friday, go-go legend Chuck Brown on Saturday, and Virginia’s Pat McGee Band on Sunday. And the part we’re most interested…

Click here to read last week’s interview with Paul Michel. >> If tranquil melodies are your…

A Virginia native now settled in Bristol, Rhode Island, Pat McGee has been traveling all over the country to support the small label rerelease of Save Me. The band, which has been touring up and down the East Coast for 10…

Go To the Wammies On Us

Now that the Arcade Fire afterglow is starting to wear off, we here at DCist have begun to think about other music. (No, and not just Interpol. Ok, perhaps a little.) The Washington Area Music Association’s annual awards show, the “Wammies,” is coming up, and they were nice enough to throw some free tickets in our direction. After all, nothing is more fun than attending an event co-sponsored by the 18th Street Lounge and the…
