Now that the Arcade Fire afterglow is starting to wear off, we here at DCist have begun to think about other music. (No, and not just Interpol. Ok, perhaps a little.) The Washington Area Music Association’s annual awards show, the “Wammies,” is coming up, and they were nice enough to throw some free tickets in our direction.

After all, nothing is more fun than attending an event co-sponsored by the 18th Street Lounge and the RIAA for free. The awards show features performances by the Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, Tom Principato, Jennifer Cutting’s Ocean Orchestra, Hillbilly Jazz, Pat McGee Band, Ellis Paul, Root Boy Slim Tribute, and EU, who is being inducted into the WAMA Hall of Fame as one of D.C.’s original go-go bands partly for their ’80s hit ‘Da Butt.’

You can experience all of this sonic pleasure in the glimmering, new, and highly Metro-accessible Strathmore Music Center in North Bethesda (right), just drop us a line at rob at dcist.com with your full name and email address. We’ll be giving away three pair of tickets on a first-come, first serve basis. You always knew that vigilantly monitoring your RSS reader on a Wednesday morning would pay off!

UPDATE: Our tickets are taken, but you can buy them here.
