All four Iowa congressional districts will consider the resolution at the district conventions in April.

This isn’t the first time that the Hawaii legislature has introduced legislation in support of the District.

From there, it goes to the Congressional district platforms and then to the state.

“We are getting a very enthusiastic response from the people of Iowa,” says D.C. Shadow Senator Paul Strauss.

Promoting statehood in D.C. can be a thankless job, and now one D.C. legislator wants to make a little more worth the while of the people elected to do it.

Next January 21, when either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney are leading an inaugural parade up Pennsylvania Avenue NW, they will pass by local officials who will be protesting the District’s lack of budgetary and representative autonomy.

Admit it — that’s a look that says, “I want you to support the District’s efforts in achieving voting rights, self-determination and statehood.”
