Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey is angry that the Nats would actually want Nats fans in the stands for their three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Soon enough, Nationals fans will be able to complain vociferously about how raucous Yankees fans ruined their day at the ballpark, too!
Redskins running back Clinton Portis sported a Washington Nationals cap Friday, making some amends for wearing a Philadelphia Phillies cap at a press conference Thursday. The minor faux pas had turned several heads, particularly since the Skins will be playing the Eagles Monday night. Portis’ excuse: he grabbed the first red hat on his way out of his house that day. Of course, Portis is not a stranger to stylish dress (see pic right)…

The Nationals Start Trading Places
In what’s being praised as a completely non-Bowden-esque move, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo pulled the trigger and dealt All-Star closer Matt Capps to the Minnesota Twins for highly rated catching prospect Wilson Ramos last night.
Photo by laura padgett If you managed to score tickets to opening day at Nationals Park, you’re in luck: President Barack Obama will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals home opener on Monday, April 5. The pitch, scheduled for 1:05 p.m., will mark the first time President Obama has accepted such an invitation from the Nationals. Obama declined to throw the first pitch last year, citing his busy schedule, and…

Last Night’s Action: Close Call
The Nats cut it a bit to close for comfort on Thursday night, but still found themselves celebrating at game’s end. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta) Nationals 8, Phillies 7: Everyone knows those moments in life where you find yourself saying “whew, that was close” out loud, directed no one in particular. Well, if they could speak collectively, the Nationals would have certainly had one of those moments on Thursday evening: despite a pair of…

Nats Game Postponed, No Double Header Tomorrow
Photo by Sommer Mathis With no relief in sight from today’s downpour, the Nationals have gone ahead and postponed their second home game of the season tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies. The make-up date has yet to be announced, so there won’t be a double header tomorrow. Ticket holders for tonight’s game should keep their tickets, which may be used either for the TBA rescheduled game, or in exchange for tickets for the same…

Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
As it gets closer to Halloween for LAist, a contributer recollects her tale of staring down the serial killer, Richard Ramirez, otherwise known as the Night Stalker. Must think happy thoughts — okay, free organic chocolate chip cookies for Los Angeles — now that’s a happy thought. Other happy Los Angeles thoughts include an interview with Jack Kehler of The Big Lebowski (he was the Dude’s landlord), a beautiful and magical photographic moment in Venice…

Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
LAist began the month with a new food series exploring the popular and unknown late night eats around town. If a Top Chef winner opened up a late night spot in Los Angeles, denizens would flock it, yet the LA Times and other media might be wary. Turning to sports, the Dodger season was quite memorable in the way that it imploded and the LA County Sheriff’s Department made some games of their own such…
