Shane Lamond was charged with obstruction of justice for sharing confidential information about a D.C. police warrant for Tarrio’s burning of a Black Lives Matter flag.

The investigation apparently centers around contacts with the Proud Boys, a group with white nationalist ties.

The new initiative comes in a year with the greatest number of homicides in the District since 2004.

It was the second police shooting in the District in less than 12 hours, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
