And Now, A Brief Publishing Note
You may have noticed a slight change to the way DCist looks today. Following the lead of our sister site in New York, we’ve now transitioned the default front page of the site to the “pretty” view. We’ve slightly refined the view since it launched earlier this year, increasing the size of the lead story images, adding more posts and generally making it more elegant and readable.

WaPo Web Site Redesigned
It’s apparently media redesign season around the District. City Paper recently overhauled their long-time print look, and we began switching our look this weekend. (By the way: thanks for your patience, dear readers!) Not to be outdone, the Washington Post has also taken the leap, revamping their website over the weekend. The new design employs a lot more open space and feels less cluttered, but definitely has its share of issues.

News From DCist HQ: Redesign Arrives This Weekend
Last month, we let you know that DCist would be getting a facelift, part of some changes to the look and feel around the Gothamist network of blogs. We’re pretty excited about the new duds, and I’m pleased to announce that the redesign will arrive at DCist this weekend.

Plan To Redesign Dunbar High School Revealed

They likely won’t be disappointed with what’s in store.

DC9 Redesigns its Web Site
We noticed for the first time today that popular 9th Street bar and live music venue DC9 has totally redesigned its web site. The previous iteration looked a lot like the sites of sister venues Rock and Roll Hotel and The Red and the Black, but now, it’s got a cleaner, easier-to-read layout, which booking manager Steve Lambert said was meant to “focus more on the artists and events we have coming through.” The…

Say Hello to the … Washington Street Journal?
After just a year on the job, it’s hard to say that Washington Post Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli hasn’t made his presence known. During his tenure, Washington’s paper of record has seen a number of changes, both in structure and style. Once separate empires, print and online, are set to merge completely by 2010. The stand-alone Book World is gone and the Business section has merged into the front pages. The Sunday magazine has…
