Taxi Commission Opens Borders for Inauguration
Anticipating an overwhelming demand on the livery sector, the D.C. Taxicab Commission announced today that it will be issuing temporary licenses to out-of-market cabbies who want to work during President Obama’s second inauguration.
The D.C. Council gave its nod to legislation that would impose new regulations on Uber and other dispatch services in the city’s burgeoning sedan-for-hire industry.
The exemption from regulation that the sedan-by-smartphone company currently enjoys in D.C. is set to run out in December. But a bill proposed yesterday by Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2), would grant that free pass for good.
