Tiger Wins AT&T National: Although an incredibly strong round by Hunter Mahan — an eight-under 62, tying the course record that had been set by third-place finisher Anthony Kim on Thursday — held the end result temporarily in question at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, there just wasn’t any way that Tiger…

Tiger Woods to Speak at Inaugural Concert Sunday
A short note on Tiger Woods’s web site this afternoon announced that the world’s best golfer accepted an invitation to speak in front of the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, as part of the “We Are One” inaugural concert. His willingness to speak comes as a surprise, considering Woods rarely, if ever, speaks up on politics. Throughout his career, he has preferred to play the Michael Jordan-esque, advertising friendly apolitical game. “I am honored that I…

Tiger Woods Bringing Money, Golf, Traffic to Town
Drivers in Montgomery County, beware! The AT&T National golf tournament, hosted by the sport’s superstar player, Tiger Woods, began today at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda. The tournament should to make your drive home today, and the rest of this week, hideous beyond reason. Of course, the event being here isn’t all, or even mostly, bad news. Morning Roundup: File Your Taxes Soon Edition
Yesterday’s snow storm didn’t add up to much as expected, but some of the melted snow on the ground froze overnight, causing a number of suburban school districts to alter their schedules today. Better luck next year, snowpocalypse. Jail Time…

Mr. Woods Goes To Washington
We mentioned it in the morning roundup, but it’s worth celebrating this news with a post of its own: D.C. is getting a golf tournament. And not just any golf tournament! No, as the Post reports, we’ve somehow lucked into hosting a new PGA Tour event put on by the Tiger Woods Foundation. The Post sports folks are beside themselves — both Boswell and Wilbon have columns today rhapsodizing about the new event. We can’t…

Morning Roundup: Villainous Ovine Violence Edition
Sad news, Washington. Fox 5 brings us a heartbreaking story from a Maryland farm. Apparently someone broke into a barn in Yellow Springs, Md. and cut off a sheep’s head. As Shawn Yancy lamented, this left “an adorable lamb… motherless”. Just think! What kind of monster would harm a helpless farm animal? Fortunately, Brian Bolter was on the case, outlining the possibilities: it seems to either be a “sick joke” or — far more likely…

DCist Interview: Djakarta
(Interview conducted by DCist contributor Jeff Simmermon) Djakarta is the artist behind the “Niggaz4Life” pieces, currently on display as part of the E2: Carving a Path exhibition, previously mentioned on DCist. Her work derives its title from NWA’s classic rap album and song “Niggaz4Life,” released in 1991. Djakarta’s video work is a montage of film clips from popular Hollywood films that portray black people singing, dancing, and mugging for the camera with the exhibit’s namesake…
