America: We Don’t Care, And It Shows!
Newsweek decided to see precisely how many people in America take their citizenship for granted, and the results are predictably depressing: 38 percent of people outright failed the official citizenship test, while 29 percent of people couldn’t name the Vice President and 6 percent couldn’t even identify when Independence Day was on the calendar. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

D.C. Officially Included In U.S. World Cup Bids
If the United States wins its aggressive bid to host the World Cup in either 2018 or 2022, 18 cities will vie to host matches in what is arguably the most important sporting competition on the planet. The USA Bid Commitee announced this afternoon that D.C. will be represented in the official United States bid book for the 2018 and 2022 finals with the inclusion…
The cold, blustery and wet conditions at RFK Stadium were nothing short of appropriate for the United States’ final World Cup qualifier, really: the fitting backdrop for the conclusion of a road trip which has seen little sunshine for the men’s national team. In the light of the car crash which severely injured forward Charlie Davies, most of the 26,243 on hand focused their meditations on one question: would the accident inspire the Americans to…

An enormous amount of sound is still capable of radiating through our stadium’s old bones and cavernous corridors. The perception is that this tournament doesn’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things. It’s a “B” team cup. A nicety….

Christmas Tree Ceremony To Mess With Traffic
The White House Christmas Tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday Nov. Dec. 6, at 5 p.m., which means without a doubt, if you can avoid driving your car in the city, you really should. The annual ceremony always screws up downtown traffic in an extreme way. Add the leftover snow and ice on the ground into the mix, and we can promise you a traffic clusterf*** of epic proportions tomorrow evening. If you’d…
