Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia are among the five schools required to create scholarships for descendants of slaves.

In the final day of the lengthy session, Virginia lawmakers approved guidelines for a new bipartisan redistricting commission and set aside funding for an investigation into systemic racism at the Virginia Military Institute.

The statue will be relocated to the Virginia Museum of the Civil War and New Market Battlefield State Historical Park.
