Giving looks different across Wards 7 and 8 as community members support and uplift one another this holiday season.
Ward 7 and 8 residents living east of the Anacostia River now have even fewer grocery store options.
Voter turnout in Wards 7 and 8 in the primaries this year was lower than other parts of the District. But that doesn’t mean voters in those areas don’t care about local issues.
Some students are facing big social and emotional challenges, with the pandemic having severely restricted their opportunities to learn to communicate with other people. “We’re back in school, we’re all in-person, so now we have to deal with the gaps,” says one educator.
The Ledo Pizza is supplementing the existing soul food restaurant in the building, and the owner hopes to add indoor seating.
DCist spoke with residents about how the fall of Roe will impact the Black community in D.C. “What we need right now is unity.”
