Here’s a guide to skating rinks that are in D.C. proper or are easily Metro accessible.

If you’re feeling particularly wintery this weekend, two of D.C.’s ice skating rinks will open to the public this weekend, and a third will celebrate its grand opening on December 1.

The Potomac River, swelled with rainfall from Hurricane Sandy, has started pouring on to Georgetown Waterfront Park, dragging a thick layer of muck and debris onto the boardwalk there.

It’s a good thing too — even though we’re nearing the end of a rainy week, the Potomac River is expected to crest at a level 11 feet higher than normal tomorrow morning.

DCist tipster Alex Greenlee provides these images from this morning’s massive flooding at Washington Harbour in Georgetown, adding that some of the businesses inside the Harbour have been “destroyed.” D.C. Fire and EMS has responded to the scene and confirmed that there have been evacuations.
