Arlington residents take note: the county government has been making decisions on vital issues without you. The always alert Sun Gazette first reported on the issue, then took a poll, reporting the results: and 81.4 percent of the readers of the free publication hate the county’s new logo.

The county seal depicts Arlington House, (the house in the middle of Arlington Cemetery), home of the Custis-Lee family. Readers complained that the new logo, unveiled for the county website redesign “The new logo “makes it look like Arlington House is drunk,” one voter wrote. Another said, “It makes it look like it has been hit by an earthquake and is slowly sliding down.”

The cost of this new identity? $39,000 – the cost of “a police officer with a few years’ experience.” The mean streets of Arlington are much more dangerous as a result of this cut in personnel. Between this outrage, and all the fuss over the baseball stadium, DCist is thinking of fleeing to Fairfax County to escape the madness.
