This weekend is just chock full of good stuff to do! The weather is shaping up nicely (with a chance of a storm on Saturday) so get out there.

FRIDAY:

  • Free Polyphonic Spree outdoor concert at the South Plaza Stage of the Kennedy Center. Starts at 6 p.m., but as there’s sure to be a crowd of people, we recommend getting out there a bit earlier.

  • The galleries of Dupont Circle are hosting an extended-hours reception for the First Friday of the month. Check the website for listings. 6-8 p.m.

  • Carlsonics play DC9 tonight with Baby Teeth and Everyother. $7.

    SATURDAY:

  • The 15th Annual Taste of Bethesda takes place today from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the heart of Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle. There’ll be tons of food and four stages of entertainment.

  • The One Thousand Coffins protest comes to D.C. today, starting at Arlington National Cemetary at noon.

  • The Crafty Bastards Fair is here! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Columbia Heights Market Place at 14th and Irving streets, you can buy such goodies as ninja necklaces and tampon dolls. Hurray! See photos of some crafts here.

  • Put on your best lederhosen and dust off the beer stein: Germantown is holding their annual Oktoberfest festivities from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

    SUNDAY:

  • The Mount Vernon Wine Festival, which celebrates the history of the Virginia wine industry, closes out today from 6-9 p.m. Sample Virginia wines, listen to live music, and visit the rarely-open basement cellar vaults where Mr. Washington kept his secret store of the good stuff. $25 per person.

  • If you were lucky enough to snatch up a ticket, there’s a sold-out Killers/Ambulance LTD show this evening at the le Club 9:30. We’re not we’re absolutely in love with the Killers, but we do enjoy Ambulance LTD’s latest.

As always, intrepid readers, let us know what interesting events we’ve missed. Happy weekending!
