Though the weekend is going to be absolutely-freaking-gorgeous, DCist can’t help but feel a twinge of bitterness. First, we’ve got to run 22 miles tomorrow for our seemingly never-ending Marine Corps Marathon training. And then we don’t even get Monday off! The gods are against us. Anyway, no reason everyone else shouldn’t have some fun! Grumble …

FRIDAY:

  • Beastie Boys bring their show to the Patriot Center. Need a ticket? Check craigslist. Lots of last-minute tickets being hawked. 8 p.m.
  • Local punk-funk faves Q And Not U are at the Black Cat tonight. Get your tickets in advance – we have a feeling this one is going to sell out. Check the Post’s interview with the band here, and their positive review of the new CD here. 9 p.m., $9. Manhunter, Food for Animals, and La Mia Vida Violenta open.

  • Take a stroll through downtown Bethesda’s art galleries during their Art Walk from 6-9 p.m. this evening.

  • Oh, wait. We forgot. There’s some sort of presidential debate tonight. Knowing D.C., y’all won’t actually be out having fun on the streets; you’ll be inside, doing shots every time Kerry says “Halliburton” or Bush says “Hard work.” Well, prepare to be wasted.

    SATURDAY:

  • Get your boat on: The Annapolis Boat Show is taking place all weekend at the city dock. 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

  • Don’t forget the National Book Festival, invading the mall with its dorkiness. Go reading!

  • Wave those yellow bracelets high: Lance Armstrong and his Tour of Hope bike their way into D.C. on their final ride of a cross-country tour promoting cancer research. You can meet members of the USPS Pro Cycling Team, particpate in lots of kids’ activities, and generally be inspired. It all happens on the Ellipse, Saturday morning.

  • The 12th Annual Fall for Fairfax festival (yay alliteration!) is happening from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Ellipse in Fairfax County. There’ll be Bollywood dancing, cloggers from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the big draw, funnelcake! Mmm.

  • Capitol City Brewing has its annual Oktoberfest block party in Shirlington, with 30 breweries offering up some tasty things on tap. Add brats, music, and some Alpine dancers, and you’ve got yourself a party. 12 p.m.-7 p.m.

    SUNDAY:

  • Indie-poppers Rilo Kiley play the Black Cat this evening. $12.

  • Author Rachel Cohen will talk about her book “A Chance Meeting: Intertwined Lives of American Writers and Artists, 1854-1967,” at the DC Jewish Community Center as part of the Jewish Literary Festival.

    MONDAY:

  • Since most reasonable employers give their hard-working employees the day off today, why not use it to head out of town? Foliage is starting to get gorgeous; drive out to Skyline Drive and take in the sights. And we don’t like to play favorites, but as a UVa alum, we must say that Charlottesville makes a lovely day-tripper destination. You can go antique-shopping, or visit the famed Rotunda and watch the idealistic students do the walk of shame after their Saturday night escapades. There are also numerous wineries in the area; on the way home, why not pick up a bottle of Virginia white?

Oh, and FYI: For anyone looking forward to Taste of DC this weekend, be advised that’s it’s moved to May 28-30.
