DCist realizes that a lot of you out there probably have today off for Columbus Day. So enjoy your day off if you do have it off, if not, have a good day at work. WTOP has a fully run-down of what’s open and what’s closed. And WMATA is running train and bus service on modified schedules.

So if you were out and about and weren’t watching the news too closely, here’s a quick round-up:

— Passengers at Dulles International Airport had to be re-screened because of a “security breach,” but nothing was found to be dangerous.

— The beleagured City Museum will close its galleries to the public next spring.

— The Redskins lost to Baltimore.

— Marion Barry is gearing up to oppose the public financing of the baseball stadium. He tells the W.Times that he would have “no problem taking credit for killing that [ballpark] deal.”

— In crime news, a man was shot early Sunday morning at 14th and W streets NW, possibly over a drug-related matter. Jim Graham, who represents Ward 1 on the city council, tells the Post that the unidentified victim “may have owed some money.”

— And in some happy news for WMATA, a wedding party chose to use the Red Line as their mode of transportation. Either WMATA or the wedding party had a well-oiled public relations operation as the story got picked up in the Post and the Associated Press.
