DC’s 2004 Asian Pacific American Film Festival is well under way.
The festival features screenings of a wide variety of films at venues across the District – from the Smithsonian Castle to the Goethe-Institut. The festival runs through the 16th, when it closes with a blowout party at Panache off Connecticut. (See a Washingtonian review.)
Bex Blog is attending the screening tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Goethe-Institut of a series of women’s short films follow by films on the theme “Searching for Lost Fathers.” There’s also a $9 screening tonight of the film “Song of Exile” at the Jewish Community Center, a still from that film appears above.
Also on the schedule is a “look at Asian Americans around the world” at Georgetown University Friday at 8:00 p.m., and two films on Saturday at the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery: Nathan Kurosawa’s “The Ride” about Pacific Islanders will be shown for free at 3:00 p.m. to be followed by a discussion with the director, and the free closing night program of three films starts at 7:00 p.m.
