It turns out that NBC’s promos for “The West Wing” are true. It’s a big season of change. Unfortunately, it’s not a change for the better. This week, “The West Wing” continues it resurrection as “ER:Redux.”
We’re still at Camp David as the president tries to bagger the Israeli prime minister and Palestine leader into a peace accord. No dice, though as both men are as stubborn as Jed himself. The Israeli PM basically flips his lid at Jed’s suggestion that both parties share control of Jerusalem and decides he’s had enough. He packs his bags, and is about to leave in a huff when Jed approaches him with a newer and even stupider idea: sending in international troops to serve as peace keepers. Kate, to no one’s surprise, thinks this is actually a good idea, while Toby and Leo come down firmly against it.
Leo and Jed get into a pissing match over Jed’s monumentally ridiculous idea, which culminates in Leo threatening to resign his position as Chief of Staff if Jed goes through with it. Jed calls his bluff and asks for a list of possibly replacements on his desk by next morning.
After the fight, Leo channels a little Robert Frost and takes a walk through some lovely, dark and deep woods, where, to no one’s surprise, he suffers a possibly fatal heart attack. Of course, no one notices a missing, soon-to-be ex-chief of staff and everyone packs up to head home, leaving Leo in the woods.
In other character development, Josh is finally back from Germany as Donna told him to high tail it the heck away from her hospital bed. Her hot photographer boyfriend, however, was allowed to remain.
Any DCers out there watch this episode? Is Leo really dead? Thoughts on what possibly is going through John Wells mind? Please share.
