This photo of the Potomac’s Little Falls gorge from the Palisades’ Potomac Avenue may be deceiving. Although Thursday’s morning rain eventually gave way to some sunshine by late afternoon, it was windy and cold. On the way to this DCist’s Thanksgiving meal, we had to dodge flying leaves, a trash can that had blown into the street and giant falling tree limbs, one of which blocked Loughboro Road near Arizona Avenue.
Others had it worse. The Post gives a good wrap-up of what happened when the winds whipped up to 45 mph in some areas.
Capital Weather had the forecast just right:
By the time you leave Grandma’s, you’ll need the scarfs and mittens, with temperatures falling through the 40s after dark and will feel like the 30s factoring in the wind. A few showers are possible in the morning, but there should be intervals of sunshine in the afternoon.
At least we didn’t have to deal with this, or this.
Did you have interesting Thanksgiving? We’re stuffed after eating a lot of brined turkey, spinach gratin, potato mushroom gratin, beets, butternut squash soup and apple pie.
>> In unrelated news … The Post reports that D.C. Council Chairman Linda Cropp may now introduce legislation that would put a cap on the cost of a new baseball stadium, which could mean a new facilty would be built adjacent to RFK Stadium because it is a cheaper site.
