We failed to mention a notable ranking about urban crime that came out before DCist went on a pseudo-Thanksgiving hiatus. Stop That Train points us to new crime stats that show that Washington is the second-most dangerous city, following Detroit, another city this DCist has had the pleasure of working in. (Don’t get us wrong, we do love Detroit. It’s a great city, despite its faults. And seeing trees growing out of abandoned Art Deco skyscrapers is pretty cool.)

We realized that crime stats can be presented in different ways and can give a warped perception of the real problem, but regardless, this serves as a friendly reminder that crime is still a major issue the District faces.
