So as our friends in Chicago freeze (but apparently survived a recent snow storm), much of the Eastern Seaboard has been trapped in a bubble of warm air. A giant trough has plunged down from Alaska into the middle of the country, which has meant that warm air has been coming northward from the south and southwest. (You can see this illustrated in this image we snagged from Capital Weather.)

The Post reports the effects of the warm spell in Washington, which should be seeing frigid temperatures this time of year. But alas, we’re going to enjoy the warmer weather, despite the threat of rain and cloudy skies tomorrow. Trouble isn’t too far away (the Ohio River is flooding in Wheeling, W.Va., Marietta, Ohio, and elsewhere), but we should escape the worst of it, all with the promise of temperatures in the 60s next week.

Are you planning any outdoors activities this weekend? Sunday is supposed to be real nice.
