Four nationally acclaimed slam poets are coming to perform in D.C. this Saturday at a free event at George Washington University.
The poets include Def Poetry Jam veteran Beau Sia (right), who was featured in the movies Slam and SlamNation, Rich Nichols, a community activist and manager of The Roots, and Steve Connell, who won the 2003 National Slam Poetry Contest with Team Los Angeles and performed as part of the Declare Yourself College Tour.
Also performing will be Sekou (tha misfit) Andrews (left) who won the 2002 individual National Poetry Slam Competition and was also a member of Team Lost Angeles in 2003.
The event is free with RSVP to poetryslam(at)pfaw.org, and will be held this Saturday, Jan. 15 at 8:00 p.m. in Columbian Square at George Washington University’s Marvin Center. The event is sponsored by the organization People for the American Way Foundation (disclaimer: the employer of this DCist).
