DC 101.1 may have thought that WHFS’s suprising demise earlier this year left them as the sole modern rock purveyor in the Washington area, but as DCist reported in late March, the infamous HFStival is still alive, still well, and ironically enough, better than it was when it was run by the late radio station.

Not to be left behind, DC 101 recently announced the bands that would play this year’s installment of the long-running Chili Cook-Off. Heavy rockers Chevelle, Trust Company, and Papa Roach will be joined by local folksters Carbon Leaf, “demonophonic blues” band Tony C. and The Truth, ex-karaoke experts The Dan Band, and two local bands to be determined during a competition at Lulu’s on May 1.

The show will take place on Saturday, May 14 at the corner of 12th Street and Independence Avenue SW. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 am through Ticketmaster.
