Traffic’s been backed up near the Tidal Basin with tourists and locals alike trying to get a good view of the cherry blossoms. While there are plenty of other cherry blossoms to see around town, it’s the Tidal Basin where all the action’s at … Unless you’re up in Bethesda, where the Kenwood neighborhood off River Road gets flooded with local visitors. Along Brookside Drive, where the cherry blossoms arc over the boulevard, and its side streets, it’s a canopy of pink. And the neighbors know how to take advantage of the heavily trafficked weekend. There was an ice cream truck and plenty of kids selling lemonade, when this DCist traveled through late yesterday afternoon.

Getting into the neighborhood is easy, but the short traffic light at Brookside Drive and River Road backs up traffic into the neighborhood causing 5-10 minute delays getting out. So we suggest exiting off another sidestreet.
