In just a few short weeks, they’ll begin to appear around town. No, we’re not talking about tourists or Cherry Blossoms, but another fixture of D.C.’s steamy summers – interns. Love them or hate them, they’ll descend into congressional offices on Capitol Hill or the Golden Triangle of Nonprofit Power. They’ll make lines at Starbucks, swarm Screen on the Green, and stand on the left side of the escalators. They also just might help you out around the office.
Finding your way around the city as an intern can be challenging. In a city that loves to drink but is too uptight to make many exceptions to the law, D.C. can be frustrating for the intern set. DCist is here to help. Here’s the deal: since we all hold down day jobs in addition to our blogging, we’re looking to hire someone already coming to D.C. to work as an intern, but wants to intern for us as well. You’d write about the intern and summer scene – 18-and-up happy hours, inexpensive and free activities, and anything else that strikes your fancy. Consider it a public service – after all, we wouldn’t want any Washington interns to go bad. For what it’s worth you’d also be able to claim some quasi-professional blogging experience in addition to your day job.
We’re also looking for someone good at graphics design. We’ve got some exciting events coming up and we’re looking for help designing buttons and ads for the site in addition to flyers and other schwag. If you love DCist and would like to be involved drop us a line.
