Bus Crash Analyzed: Authorities re-enacted yesterday an accident between a trash truck and a school bus that occured one week ago that left two children dead and 15 wounded. Police stressed that it might be weeks before the final results of their investigations will be known. The funeral for one victim was held Friday.
Sex Fair Raises Ire at GMU: George Mason University’s annual Sextravaganza, a sexual health fair, will go on today as planned, despite the complaints of a Republican Virginia legislator.
Told the Post on Friday the event promoted “every type of sexual promiscuity you can imagine,” and “This whole thing is really just designed to push sex and sexual libertine behavior as far, fast and furiously as possible.” Campus officials and students planning the event defended it as a positive and educational event where students can learn about safe sex, date rape, and sexual health.
Lawsuit Accuses Sodexho of Bias: A class action lawsuit filed today claims that blacks and other minorities are barred from the Gaithersburg-based hospitality company’s upper management: “The lawsuit claims that in 2000, the year the initial equal opportunity complaint was filed, there were nearly 700 upper-management jobs in Sodexho in this country, but only 18 were held by blacks.” The lawsuit seeks damages and a policy change at the company.
Volunteers Clean up Potomac: Volunteers have completed this year’s 17th annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, organized by the Ferguson Foundation. Among the 186 tons of garbage was:
43 single shoes, three weed wackers, three tricycles, two porn videos, two bongs and a full keg of beer, $50 in Bosnian currency, a bowling pin, a cash register drawer, a boogie board, the grill from a police cruiser, a Kawasaki motorcycle, a plastic horse head and a rocking horse, and a Civil War-era sword in its sheath.
