May 5 is always an important holiday. It’s where we celebrate Mexico’s 1862 victory at Puebla over the French. And this year, it’s technically 05/05/05. So there’s even more reason to remember Benito Juarez and the Mexican battlefield win. So why not do it with DCist? Remember, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Amigos don’t let Amigos Drive Drunk. You can take the 42 bus.

Where: Chief Ike’s Mambo Room, Columbia Road, Adams Morgan

This DCist will be going on vacation starting this Friday. But don’t fear, for those DCist Happy Hour veterans, you know that we craft some sort of trivia challenge and the winner gets free drinks. Well the Cinco de Mayo trivia challenge will involve this DCist’s upcoming week-long roadtrip. Where will we go? Nobody knows. We’ll let the Interstate Highway System guide us. We’ll be searching for America and we’re sure we’ll come across some interesting things. So stay tuned and get ready to play. We promise the prize give-aways will be better than the free drinks we normally give out to the winner. (There’s one free Flickr Pro account waiting to be given away, plus more goodies.)

To encourage attendance, we’ve secured the following specials which will apply all night: $3 Corona & Pacifico bottles, $5 Cuervo & Sauza tequila, $5 Margaritas (rail), $3 domestic bottles (Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite), and $4 rail drinks.
