COLUMBUS, Ohio — Greetings from the capital of the Buckeye State. Thanks for all your input on our “Team America: World Police”-themed journey. We’re continuing to head west. This photo, taken from Third Street near the Nationwide Arena District shows one of Columbus’ more controversial advertisements. Like the giant H&M advertisement on the Flatiron Building in New York that has graced the landmark building and pissed off most everyone, the three-part ad seen here for Nationwide insurance has come under fire because it is too big and located too near major highways, according to some sort of regulation, we’re told. Does anyone in Columbus have the scoop?

We’ll have more to write about Columbus and its battles with its smoking ban, which could give D.C. some interesting perspective on toying around with smoking bans. But more on that when we get the time. In the meantime, here is clue No. 1, for the DCist pre-Cinco de Mayo party trivia challenge:

For the Clue No. 1 (and remember the final clue will build off of the previous clues), we’re sending you to look for an Ontario-based chain eatery with locations in many parts of the country, but in the Midwest, many are located in college towns. DCist had a Chicken Caesar at one such location on the way to Columbus at the corner of High and Fayette streets. The second word in the chain’s name shares its name with a kind of mining commonly found in the state where we ate, i.e. open-[XXX] mining. Congressman Alan Mollohan, the ranking member of the tension-filled House ethics committee (which has been in the news quite a bit, if you follow the complexities Capitol Hill) is an alumni of the university’s law school.
