This made DCist go into brief shock. Roy Rogers, the Frederick-based fast-food chain is offering more regional delicacies on their menu. In fact, Roy Rogers is introducing a crab cake sandwich, the Washington Business Journal reports. A baked fast food crab cake?
From the Washington Business Journal:

The sandwiches will sell for $4.79 and be available at 59 company- and franchise-owned Roy Rogers restaurants in the mid-Atlantic.

Roy Rogers will be partnering with Phillips seafood. We aren’t sure how we feel about a “quick serve” chain trying its hand at the art of crab cake production. And a more important question, is Phillips’ crab local?

Back in 2002, this DCist was about to have a crab cake lunch with our great aunt, who is quite famous for her crab cake recipe. (Like any entrenched octogenarian District local, this shouldn’t be surprising.) She has just returned from the Southwest waterfront and she was in shock. In fact, she was livid, holding up the plastic tub of crab, pointing to the label. “Mike! Mike! I want you to write a letter to the Post. … They’re selling Indonesian crab on our waterfront!”
