D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams is known for many things, among them being dodgy as to whether or not he will run again in 2006. Williams has dropped hints saying he might, only to drop hints saying he probably won’t. He’s indicated that any number of factors might influence his decision — his wife, his ability to attract higher pay in the private sector, the frenetic pace of being the District’s principal public servant. But recent events, unrelated to city politics, may well serve to ignite a popular push to have Williams challenge current contenders Adrian Fenty (D-Ward 4) and Vincent Orange (D-Ward 5), among others slated to run. Those events? A surprisingly hot season for a new baseball team known simply as the Nats.
