The fall lineups are filling in, and it’s looking like a nice autumnal concert season for indie fans, all kicked off by the perfectly free Operation: Ceasefire mass gig on the mall September 24th. Sadly, most of the other highlights require tickets, and it falls to DCist to bring you the hottest of the hott.
Watch D.C.’s own (for the moment) Bob Mould, sometime Blowoff DJ and indie rock icon, as he returns to the stage with his band, touring in support of his latest album Body of Song. We’ve been promised some Sugar songs, as well. Bob’s at the 9:30 on October 7th. Tickets are on sale now for $15.
We all know Weezer hasn’t been Weezer since “Pinkerton,” and even Dave Grohl has expressed disappointment about the Foos‘ body of work. But give us a chance to see the TJ High School alum and his band play “Everlong” AND see a live version of “Suzanne” and we’ll take it, anyday. Go see Foo Fighters and Weezer October 10th at the GMU Patriot Center. Tickets are on sale Saturday; the presale began today.
It’s been a long time since Henry Rollins jumped on stage with Black Flag and started making D.C. punk history, but you can still catch the man on stage, delivering one of the spoken word performances for which he has, perhaps, become better known. He’ll be appearing at the Birchmere on October 15th. Tickets are on sale now for $25.
Canadian band Broken Social Scene have announced tour dates in support of their self-titled third full-length, and the 9:30 Club is on the list, right between Philly and Detroit. Tickets go on sale today for the October 26th show. $20.
Take an indie rock break and get ready for the holidays with Ford’s Theater’s interpretation of the Dickens classic, entitled, for their purposes A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas. The show is an adaptation, set in Ford’s Theater at the time of a Dickens visit to the US, but the general idea is the same. Opens November 16th and runs through December 31st. Tickets are on sale now for $25.
Donnie Darko fans and aging hipsters alike can rejoice in what is going to be a sweet, sweet show, as Merseysiders Echo and the Bunnymen play Black Cat on November 18th. $20. Watch this space for when tickets go on sale; it’s sure to sell out.
Finally, where in the world are they going to find someone willing to pay $35 to see Rockapella? Not really a hot ticket, but worth a mention none the less. At Birchmere November 30th.
