>> In case you missed it, the dates for the inaugural Capital Fringe Festival (which DCist told you about back in April) were announced on Saturday during the Arts on Foot festival in Penn Quarter. Mark July 20-30, 2006 in your calendars now! You can celebrate and get more info about the festival tomorrow night at The Warehouse Cafe & Bar at a happy hour from 6 – 8 p.m.; with the promise of $2 Yuengling and the buzz of local artists, DCist is planning to be there.

>> The 3rd Thursday gallery crawl along 7th Street kicks off again officially this week; for a listing and map of participating sites, click here.

>> The National Gallery of Art has kicked off its fall season this month with lots of new exhibits. Just this past weekend, an exhibit of 17th-century Dutch still-life paintings opened as well as a show featuring Italian Renaissance sculpture. Earlier this month the Museum opened an exhibit of 15th-century woodcuts and one featuring Impressionist prints by French artist Félix-Hilaire Buhot. With the feast of good shows, you’re bound to find something to satisfy your taste.

>> We missed out on the opening party for the inaugural art show at Boundless Yoga last weekend, but we’re certainly all for non-traditional venues promoting local artists. As long as we don’t get roped into actually exercising, you can bet we’ll be stopping by this week to check it out.

>> The new Andy Warhol exhibit opens Saturday at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The show features an impressive 150+ paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings and films from The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.
Remember, there is an $8 entrance fee to the Corcoran (a student discount is also available). Go to see it this weekend and you’ll also catch Loop, a visual art and music installation comissioned for the Biennial before it comes down September 30.

>> We’ve heard good things about Susan Eder and Craig Dennis’ photography exhibit at the Marsha Mateyka Gallery which opened last week. Stop by the next time you’re wandering around Dupont Circle — but make sure to leave time to eat afterward. Apparently some of the photos have the ability to make you hungry.

>> Limited seats are still available for a “Meet the Artist” session next Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Janet Cardiff, the artist responsible for the audio artwork currently at the Hirshhorn. But you have to be an Annual Circle Patron or have valid student ID to buy tickets in advance, so call a friend who has one or the other of those and then call 202-633-2836 to reserve seats.
