The summer duldroms are definitely over and fall’s concert season is in full swing. It’s a busy week in D.C. music, so get yourself to a venue and enjoy yourself.
MONDAY
>> The first of two sold out shows from the legendary Black Crowes at the 9:30 Club is tonight. Getting in may be hard to handle, but our good buddy Craig could lend a hand. 7:30.
>> Speaking of legends, there are some other ones in town tonight too, you might have heard of them. The Rolling Stones alight on the MCI Center tonight. Tickets can be yours for the low low price of $63. Or, $403, depending on how good a view of Mick and the boys you’re lookin’ for. 7:30.
>> If you’re feeling a little more contemporary this evening, The Raveonettes and Radio 4 bring their danceable indie rock to the Black Cat‘s main stage. $13, 8:30.
TUESDAY
>> Popular again. Nada Surf comes to the Black Cat tonight to promote their new album, The Weight Is A Gift. Openers include an acoustic set from locals Army of Me, and what has got to be one of the most irreverently amusing band names we’ve ever heard, Say Hi To Your Mom. $13, 8:30.
WEDNESDAY
>> Guero was one of this year’s outstanding albums, and just one of many fantastic ones from Beck. Check out his always worthwhile show tonight at GMU’s Patriot Center. No word on who’s opening, but there are sure to be at least two turntables and a microphone, so a good time is a pretty much in the bag. $40, 8:00.
>> Who likes buzz bands? We like buzz bands! Come see what all the hype’s about when Stellastarr* plays the 9:30 Club tonight. Friends of DCist Cedars (formerly known as Cartel) are the first band on the bill, so come early! $15, 7:30.
UPDATE: Electrotease is hosting the Stellastarr* after party at DC9, across the street from 9:30. It’s $5 with a ticket from the show, $10 without, and you’ll be treated to both the normal electrotease wild fabulousness, and Stellastarr* themselves DJing. Not to be missed.
>> More in the mood for a sitting, swaying type of show? Then head to the Birchmere for the sweet sounds of Amos Lee. $17.50, 7:30.
