Good morning, Washington. Today and tomorrow look likely to be rainy. You know when the weather was better? That’s right, the good old days. Also better: the children of the past. Today’s Post reports that six Manassas high school students have been disciplined after they were discovered participating in sexual activity in the school’s auditorium. And WTOP reports that no police charges have yet been filed against the P.G. County student who on Wednesday attacked his teacher with a bat. The student has been expelled.
Metro Land Sale Postponed: The Post reports that WMATA’s board of directors has voted to delay a decision regarding the sale of land near the Vienna station. Developers want the land to add to the burgeoning MetroWest complex of homes at the site, but their proposal has proved controversial. A public hearing on the initiative will be held on November 1.
EZ-Pass Gets Easier: The Maryland Transportation Authority is considering a number of measures to make driving easier. The EZ-Pass system will be improved, eliminating the need for drivers to slow down in order for their tag to be recognized. Officials are also toying with the idea of eliminating all toll booths from the Bay Bridge, opting instead to photograph license plates and collect tolls automatically via EZ-Pass and the postal system.
Md. Renaissance Fair Turns Ugly: A young girl and her father received second degree burns after a fire stunt in which they had volunteered to participate was botched. The injuries aren’t serious, but the Duvall family is miffed at the fair organizers’ failure to contact them after the incident. We knew there was a reason we didn’t trust those SCA types.
